I am caring full time for my long term partner who has severe dementia and other complex health issues. MIndfulness has been my anchor underpinning intention, attitudes and capacity to care and grow my love in the midst of this loss.
Prior to this I worked for 30 years in a job I loved as a counsellor in a post secondary education setting.
At this time in my life I realise that all has been preparing me for this moment. Friendship, connection and love is all.
I have always been an activist, member of a trade union, advocate for people experiencing social disadvantage. My caring role currently draws all of this together and simultaneously limits my capacity to be active in the community but I hold my activism and commitment in this very special role.
