Bio
The pull to spirituality began early for me, as a child pondering the mysterious appearance of life around me. Soon after entering college, I learned to meditate, and now my meditation journey is approaching five decades. In that time, I have practiced, explored, and taught various forms including TM, direct path, qigong/tai chi, and now, mindfulness. Some teachers who have uniquely influenced my path include Adyashanti, Tara Brach, Joseph Goldstein, Rob Burbea, Ayya Khema, and Larry Rosenberg. My aim as a teacher is to help engender a felt sense of spacious awareness, anchored within body, breath, and ground, and held with interest and care. I use the meditation itself as the main vehicle for teaching through repeated reminders of the tenants of practice, and encouragement to savor the goodness that is always here. I offer weekly guided meditations by phone to friends, friends of friends, workmates, and family. Knowing my sessions are assisting a regular practice for many is a satisfaction beyond measure. In my personal and work life I have been a business founder, culture leader, and leadership coach, a writer of memoir and spiritual fiction, a spiritual friend, wife, mom, and gramma. I am enormously grateful to be part of the MMTCP cohort of teachers created by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, and counted among those spreading the miracle of mindfulness. I’d love to hear from you! barbischulick@aol.com My novel, Ethel Katz Finds Her Guru: http://ethelkatzguru.com/ “Ethel is a charm! A delight, a panic, and chock full of earthy and deep dharma.” ~Tara Brach
