Bio
Augusta (she/her) is a cisgender, mostly-straight, mostly-able bodied, neurotypical, white bodied woman who recognizes that her social location informs her experience.
She first meditated as a teen through martial arts, studied Buddhism in college in Korea, and formally became a student of the Dharma at Wat Suan Mokkh in Thailand in 2006.
Augusta brings her passion for the practice of embodied awareness to guiding SF Sangha, teaching Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, mentoring new meditation teachers and helping herself and others awaken from the delusions society feeds us, including that of white supremacy and striving for unattainable perfection.
She is ordained by Peace Activist Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh and authorized to teach by Spirit Rock as a Community Dharma Leader.
Her style has been called ‘Zen with an edge!’
When she is not teaching, she enjoys bringing her practice of present moment awareness to chilling swims in the open water, mostly in the San Francisco Bay.
