Bio
I am a former elementary teacher and current senior lecturer at OISE/University of Toronto. I teach graduate courses in the Theory and Practice of Mindfulness in Education and Special Education & Mental Health in the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning. I have been a mindfulness practitioner and educator for over 20 years. I am certified as a Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness Teacher and a professional member of the International Mindfulness Teachers Association (CMT-P) and the American Mindfulness Research Association. I facilitate a monthly Mindfulness Community of Practice for Educators, lead mindfulness workshops and trainings, and teach and guide mindfulness regularly. My writing is featured in many publications including Thich Nhat Hanh’s Happy Teachers Change the World and The Mindfulness Bell. I am the recipient of A Mindful Society’s 2019 Michele Chaban Spirit of Leadership Award for my work and research focused on mindfulness in education. My book, Fostering Mindfulness, is published by Pembroke Publishers.
