Bio
I am Professor of neuroscience, cognitive science, and psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego. My professional interest for the past 30 years has been to understand how the brain creates the mind. I am the author of several books in that area, the latest being Controlling Mental Chaos: Harnessing the Power of the Creative Mind (Rowman & Littlefield, 2023). I have also been a contemplative practitioner for the same number of years and a certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher (MMTCP, 2025). I now dedicate my time to writing and sharing what I've learned as a neuroscientists and mindfulness practitioner.
