Bio
Jataunia is a self-care activist, and a graduate of Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach’s two-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training Program (MMTCP). She’s also student of Carina Nickerson at the Embodied Mindfulness School, Ruth King, John Kabat Zinn, Noliwe Alexander and Pema Chodron. She’s practiced yoga and meditation for over 17 years, and was drawn to teach as she noticed how much mindfulness meditation helped cultivate balance in her life when things got challenging.
She teaches globally online, from her base in California, offering meditation classes, workshops, and trainings, serving diverse fields from education, health care, business and personal development.
She applies mindfulness and self-compassion to relationships, conflict, trauma, and societal change, with a focus on diversity, equity and inclusivity.
Jataunia’s teachings emphasize the journey of healing and personal growth with awareness of the heart, body, and mind expanding mindfulness to tap into your inner calm to find refuge and clarity when life feels uncertain. Dealing with the human condition of anxiety, stress, and striving for happiness, she has a deep commitment to practicing and sharing a modern approach to ancient teachings, in order to take the tools off the cushion or chair into daily life.
As a Makeup Artist in Film and Television for over 23 years, she also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Administration. Jataunia enjoys fusing her passions with purpose through mindfulness and meditation, and uses her experience to cultivate health, wellness, and balance.
Outside of teaching, she indulges in artistic creations, nature's gifts, and family time, finding genuine gratification in supporting others on their path of healing, and inner peace. Jataunia is a mother of 3 adult children, a daughter, a sister, and a friend.
