Ginger Holladay/My Bio
My journey to Mindfulness Meditation began during my career as a performer and recording studio vocalist. As I began achieving success as a singer I also began experiencing performance anxiety which interrupted my ability to do my best in my profession. To help relieve my stress I began exploring tai chi & yoga and I still use these practices today. However, it was my introduction to meditation that shifted my relationship to anxiety and also began my spiritual practice.
In 1986 my spiritual journey led me to San Francisco where I began attending retreats at Spirit Rock retreat center and also Esalen Institute. In 1991 I moved to Big Sur, Ca. where I taught singing/creative expression workshops at Esalen Institute incorporating mindfulness techniques to support presence and authenticity. While there I met Insight Meditation teacher James Baraz and was inspired by his book “Awakening Joy”. After moving to Washington State in 2004, I began facilitating an Awakening Joy women’s group. The experience of facilitating this group encouraged me to continue deepening my spiritual practice. In 2019 I graduated from the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training offered by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach through Sounds True. Today, I am the guiding teacher of Mt. Om Meditation Sangha in Leavenworth, Wa. and still singing professionally.
