Bio
I was introduced to meditation as a child by my grandmother, who was a dancer, yogi, and artist. I didn't exactly follow her career path, but a similar one found me. As Co Owner of Vallefuoco Contractors since 1999, I've spent over 25 years helping thousands of clients manifest their creative tile and marble projects in the Washington, DC area. I was trained as an artist in figurative oil painting in Florence, Italy. I use my art background and principles from my undergraduate degree in psychology to help my clients make mindful construction design decisions, and to create intentional spaces in their homes. As a certified mindfulness meditation teacher, I've spent years bringing mindfulness practices to the construction industry, and helping fellow humans thrive in all aspects of their lives. My inspiration to teach started on a yoga mat and lead me to the contemplative side of yoga. I recognize the deep connection between spirituality and neuroscience, and bring a multi-faceted perspective to my teaching. I've spent almost a decade sharing compassionate leadership in the construction industry, and through diverse mindfulness-based coursework. I specialize in speaking in industries in which mindfulness and compassion have not been modeled or celebrated historically; such as with the police force and crisis intervention teams in Washington, DC, and in the construction industry nationally. I am both student and teacher. My student base includes psychologists, first responders, non-profits, public and private schools and universities, trade associations, private companies, and retreat centers in the USA and Europe. I weave in art, eastern wisdom, neurobiology, and psychology concepts into my teaching. My own passion project is Disability Inclusion Guild®; a 501(c)3 dedicated to breaking social barriers for people with disabilities. I have a beautiful nephew who happens to have Down Syndrome and Autism. He is my and my family's accidental teacher and has taught me much about patience, acceptance, and compassion. I believe a conscious intention and deep self compassion are highly teachable parts of our human skill set. As a creative, I believe that to create the circumstances for more joy and less suffering, it's important to be intentional. Intention steers us from the heart & saves us from the ego.
