Bio
An Anthropologist, Eliza manages a global human-rights award and is a delegate at the United Nations. In 2019, on a work assignment in Myanmar, a nervous breakdown led her to the Dhamma Joti Meditation Center in Yangon where she completed a ten-day silent vipassana meditation retreat. While she had been meditating for more than 20 years, it was this experience that helped her to see the true benefits of meditation - as a way to reduce stress and anxiety. When she returned to the US she dove deeper into her meditation practice completing a one-month silent vipassana meditation retreat at Spirit Rock. Eliza believes that mindfulness meditation has the potential to help us face the enormous global challenges that lie ahead and bring about a more patient, peaceful, and compassionate world. Eliza teaches meditation at the UN Commission on the Status of Women.
