Bio
Anuprita means one who loves everyone around her and Anu means an atom. You see, my mom had already set the tone for my life's journey. And trust me, this path of self-awareness, clarity, humility, kindness, love, and wisdom has not been easy. I have always been alone and different from the people around me. Most of the time, unworthiness and self-doubt have been my companions. My life experiences have raised many questions like, Who am I? Why does this keep happening to me again and again? What life lesson am I supposed to learn? Am I really not worthy of love? What am I missing?
As the saying goes, "life happens when you are busy making plans", while there has been this trauma shaping my self-doubt and unworthiness, I got opportunities like genetic counseling, teaching soft skills and emotional intelligence, which had a bigger influence than my traumas. My traumas continue to send me on a roller coaster ride every now and then, but have also softly nudged me toward my true nature. I love helping and listening to people from all walks of life.
When I started genetic counseling for inherited retinal dystrophy patients, I would wonder whether I am qualified to help them with their fear and pain. My gut would tell me that yes, this is the time you need to remember your fears and pain to connect with them and do or say the next useful/helpful thing. That is when I started understanding the difference between our "intellect and embodied/organic/gut". Being a scientist, I do understand that all evidence need not be outside or on paper, but you can look within and seek guidance from your whole body. I fell in love with mindfulness and Buddhist psychology. Mindfulness helped me become a better listener and connect with people at a deeper level. It just makes sense and feels so right.
I am very excited and feel blessed to be an MMTCP student, to have loving and wise teachers/mentors, and the support of a sangha that has people from all over the world. In these two years, I have grown as a compassionate human being, and as a mindfulness practitioner, and feel closer to my true nature.
