SUMMARY:Brahmaviharas Sangha -- Breathing the Sea Air
DESCRIPTION:October 29\, 2025 will be our Next Sit! \nNew Post Alert! \n \n-The months roll along\, like waves in the ocean\, which is about a 7-minute stroll from my family cottage in Ogunquit\, ME. My footprints have\, for many years\, been imprinted on the short stretch of road and gently arching\, wooden footbridge which connects the warm pavement to the soft\, white sand beyond the dunes. \n-Two weeks ago\, my husband and I closed our family cottage until next Spring and headed home. It is not a long drive\, but space and time seem to stretch mystically between Ogunquit\, ME and Wayland\, MA. \n– As we wound up our “nautical rope” and drifted south\, we listened to chant music and slowly let go of the past 4 1/2 months. My training was put to good use when we attended three funerals of friends whom we’d known for many decades. I provided emotional triage and listened to their families. There were moments of Metta\, Empathetic Joy\, Compassion and\, yes\, Equanimity. They breathed more easily during our sits together. That is all that I could do without overwhelming their sense of loss and vulnerability. \n-As we turn towards the essence of Fall and savor whatever Nature presents as gifts\, may we sit together in silence\, listen to the rhythm of our hearts and open them to the “stranger” and “unknown” adventures that lie ahead. \n“Without expectations\, anything is possible.” (-anonymous\, Chinese sage). \n-Please bring yourself\, your journal\, a good quality pen and good quality headphones for listening to sounds that I share. We will focus on how to use our skills and teachings to soften our hearts and help others to embody the 4 Divine Abodes. \nI might touch on facets of the “5 Invitations”\, wonderful portals to awakening. \n-The image below is a double exposure\, not yet complete\, taken at the edge of a cliff\, overlooking the ocean.
