SUMMARY:MCMT - Talk and Discussion on Dance as Relational Meditation in Motion
DESCRIPTION:As mindfulness practitioners\, and teachers\, we often associate meditation with four primary postures: three “still” — sitting\, standing\, lying down — and one “dynamic”: walking meditation. Many of us have explored more intricate forms of “meditation in motion” like Yoga\, Tai Chi\, Qigong\, and other martial arts. But what if we moved beyond the confines of prescribed postures and defined sequences? Improvisational dance harnesses the body’s natural inclination to move and emerges organically\, guided by the flow of energy\, breath\, and emotion. By breaking free from steps and choreography\, we cultivate deep listening\, embrace uncertainty\, and respond to impulses with sensitivity and authenticity. We learn to let go of preconceived notions of how our bodies ‘should’ move\, and instead discover how they ‘want’ to move. Furthermore\, dance is not merely a solitary journey\, but a shared experience that nurtures connection\, empathy\, and trust with others. As we establish a rhythm with each other and with the music\, we enter a collective meditative state\, where individual awareness expands into relational harmony. Please note this is a talk and discussion only and not a movement session.

SUMMARY:Q&R with Joseph Goldstein
DESCRIPTION:Q&R with Joseph Goldstein\, Saturday September 21 from 2 – 3:30 pm ET (please note this is later than our normal start time). Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to be with this beloved teacher in an alumni only setting — we have all heard Joseph speak many times but this is one of the very few places where he shares his teaching wisdom.  Joseph is also winding down his speaking engagements so these opportunities will become rarer and rarer.   \n \nAfter a brief talk\, Joseph will focus the bulk of this session on responding to questions on your teaching — challenges you have faced\,  student questions that were hard  for you\, an issue you seek guidance on\, etc — as well as questions about your practice. He asked us to solicit questions ahead of time so he can better prepare so please pre-submit your questions for Joseph here.   Register here;  Zoom link is here
