SUMMARY:Tara Brach | Processing Societal Loss and Grief
DESCRIPTION:(please note this was previously scheduled for April 5. We are aware that many of you may participate in the April 5 national/international events; we also think the topic of this session is really important thus the reschedule. We apologize for any inconvenience this change causes.) \n \n Teaching in this time of destabilization and widespread societal loss can be deeply challenging—especially as many of us are tending to our own emotional reactivity and grief. The teachings on impermanence and the worldly winds of gain and loss apply not only to our personal lives but also to governance\, where shifts in leadership and fundamental values can be abrupt and unsettling. \n \nWe experience societal grief when we lose a sense of safety\, trust\, or hope due to government actions. This grief is also sparked by oppression\, racism\, civil and human rights violations\, war\, environmental destruction\, and the erosion of shared community and national values. When these harms threaten our physical safety\, freedoms\, or livelihoods\, grief becomes both personal and collective—a shared pain felt by millions. \n \nAs teachers\, it’s essential to honor our own grief while also guiding our students through the emotions they face. \nHow do we find equanimity when core values and rights are under threat? How do we open our hearts to the cruelty and suffering of our times without becoming overwhelmed? How do we move beyond blame and see the shared vulnerability and conditioning in all beings? Most importantly\, how do we stay present with what’s unfolding and respond with wisdom\, courage\, and love? \n \nJoin Tara as she explores with us how to navigate these times with the presence and clarity of an awake heart. \n \nThe session will be from 2 – 3:30 pm ET;  the Zoom link is here

SUMMARY:Mentor - led Series | Klia Bassing
DESCRIPTION:Led by MMTCP Mentors\, these sessions offer a place for you to bring any and all of your teaching and practice questions and to be in sangha with alumni peers.  In each session\, mentors will offer a short talk and then offer guidance and wisdom for whatever is coming up for you – much like we had in peer groups. These sessions have been so rich and supportive that this year we are offering them twice a month and alternating times so our peers around the world can join more often.   \n \nThis session will be led by Klia Bassing from 8 – 9:15 pm ET; her topic will be ‘Fielding Questions Without Needing to Know the Answers — in 4 Steps!”  Zoom link is here. \n \nMore about Klia: Klia Bassing\, MBA\, MPP is the founder of FacilitatorsCollective.org\, a supportive and curated community for mindfulness teachers\, therapists\, and coaches. She served for six years as a mentor for MMTCP and continues to mentor Power of Awareness. Klia began her career in international development at the World Bank but transitioned to teaching mindfulness in corporate settings in 2005\, after experiencing its life-changing benefits in healing emotional eating and self-judgment. Her work has been featured by TEDx\, The Washington Post\, NPR\, NBC\, ABC\, and Agence France-Presse. Today\, in addition to mentoring other facilitators\, she leads individuals and groups in healing\, intuitive development\, and spiritual awakening.

SUMMARY:Skills Workshop - Guiding Individuals in Self-Inquiry
DESCRIPTION:(please disregard a previous announcement canceling this session; it was a calendar glitch and it is on as scheduled . Please RSVP again even if you had previously done so – our apologies for the misdirection) \n \nLed by MMTCP Mentor\, Stan Eisenstein\, this workshop introduces a number of techniques\, practices and stances that support mindfulness meditation teachers in guiding individuals in self-inquiry. Many meditation students introduced to such practices as RAIN seek extra assistance in uncovering and untangling subconscious programming that keeps them stuck. Others are looking for guidance associated with specific personal challenges. Working with individuals requires additional skills beyond those for teaching groups. Some of the topics we will explore include: grounding\, staying in the core\, attunement\, meditations as experiments\, the transmission of perspectives and frameworks\, and the power of deepening questions. \n \nThe session is from 12 – 1:30 pm ET; the zoom link is here \n \nStan Eisenstein has been a mentor for MMTCP since 2019 (cohort 2). He has been a teacher for the Insight Meditation Community of Washington since 2013. He has created and taught courses in Inviting Chronic Pain and Illness to Tea\, Self-Inquiry\, and Meditative Reparenting. Stan has guided individuals in self-inquiry since 2015. Stan had a long career as a high school physics teacher. He has a Masters in Social Work\, though he is not a licensed clinical therapist. Stan co-created and teaches Guided Embodied Inquiry with Individuals (GEII): a Course for Mindfulness Meditation Teachers. This year-long course begins January 2026. You can find more information at Stan’s website.
