SUMMARY:Anger: From Poison to Presence | Online Retreat with Amma Thanasanti
DESCRIPTION:Many long-term meditators find that anger remains one of the more difficult experiences to meet fully with wisdom and freedom. We develop the capacity to observe it\, to create space around it\, to watch it arise and pass — and still\, familiar patterns in how we relate to it can continue returning. The same places we get caught. The same sense that something more is needed. \n \nFor many practitioners\, deeper awareness does not immediately dissolve anger patterns\, but instead reveals them more clearly. \n \nThis daylong workshop-style retreat\, led by Amma Thanasanti\,  takes that experience seriously — and uses it as the entry point. \nWe will work directly with anger both as an object of practice and as a source of information and insight: its different forms\, its intelligence\, and what lives beneath it. Through meditation\, teaching\, and structured inquiry\, we will follow what awareness reveals — and stay honest about what that points toward. \n \nThe day is built in three arcs. We begin by building ground — resourcing the nervous system and honoring what practice has already developed in us. From that stability we move into direct exploration of anger: its many expressions\, its weight\, and what lives beneath it. The final arc is integration — bringing what has been seen into relationship with practice and daily life\, and closing the container with steadiness and care. \n \nThis will not be a processing space or a substitute for therapy. It is a practice day — grounded\, embodied\, and oriented toward deeper clarity\, discernment\, and presence. \nWe will share more details about the day’s schedule ahead of the session. The full session will be from 11 am – 6 pm ET but there will be plenty of breaks.   \n \nPlease Note:   \nThis retreat is not the right container for you if: \n• You are currently finding it difficult to regulate in daily life \n• You are looking for a space to process deep emotional wounds or traumatic memories — this is a practice day\, not a therapeutic space \n• You are in an early stage of trauma recovery where working with anger may be activating without sufficient support in place \n• You are not yet connected to a therapist or support system and sense this retreat may be a substitute for one \n \nParticipant Guidelines \nThis day works with material that can be activating. Participants are encouraged to stay within their own capacity throughout. Backing off\, slowing down\, or choosing not to engage with an inquiry prompt is understood as wise and skillful practice — not failure. \nPlease click the link below to RSVP for this event. \nhttps://mmtcpalumni.org/events/

SUMMARY:Brahmaviharas
DESCRIPTION:NEW POST ALERT! NEXT SESSION; Wed.\, Sept. 30\, noon-1:30 pm ET. Please note the ET time zone and plan to stay for the entire\, 90-min. session\, \n~~~~ \nFall is coming and I am savoring memories of jumping into huge piles of colorful\, crunchy leaves. The earthy aroma\, rustling sound\, scratchy texture and even the dusty taste are imprinted deeply in my brain. How do these memories reflect the Brahmaviharas? How do your memories affect your perception of life? What is real\, what is imagined or being transformed by the flow of perception? Did Fall mean falling in or out of love\, feeling empathetic joy or deep sorrow\, expressing compassion or frustration…embracing amazing feelings of equanimity or fragile imbalance? Let’s explore some deeper\, Dharma waters.  \n~~~~ \nBring your pen\, journal and curiosity to the next session. SUMMARY:Seven Inner Treasures: Cultivating the Awakening Factors
DESCRIPTION:Deepening Dharma Series  \n \nIn this six-week course\, we’ll explore an important teaching known as the awakening factors with Regina Flanigan \n \nBuddhist teachings describe these seven qualities as priceless treasures because they are human capacities that\, when recognized\, appreciated\, and cultivated\, support well-being and the unfolding of awakening. \nTogether\, we’ll explore how to know when they are present or absent\, how they help us respond wisely to the mind’s balance between being energized and calm\, ways of strengthening them\, and their relationship to what are known as the hindrances. \n \nEach 1½-hour session will include a meditation based on some aspect of the seven factors\, a brief Dharma talk\, and space for reflection\, sharing\, and discussion. A simple\, concise study guide will be offered for each session.  Additional integration sessions may also be added. \n \nTo register and for information on each session\, please click here  \nMore about Regina \nRegina has spent over 25 years exploring the path of human healing and awakening. She earned her master’s degree in counseling from Johns Hopkins University\, where she began integrating Western psychological approaches with Eastern contemplative traditions. Her path has been rooted primarily in the Insight Meditation tradition and nondual wisdom traditions. \n \nIn 2019\, Regina completed the two-year inaugural Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program (MMTCP)\, led by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. She was mentored by Hugh Byrne at Insight Meditation Community of Washington (IMCW)\, where she is now a teacher and continues to support the life of the Center for Mindful Living Sangha. \n \nRegina has completed additional immersive trainings through the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies\, as well as a nine-month teacher training program exploring Nibbana with Ven. Dhammadipa.

SUMMARY:half-day metta retreat with Konda Mason
DESCRIPTION:Stress\, anxiety\, uncertainty\, political unrest\, ecological grief\, are just a few of the forces of today’s world that leave us exhausted and out of balance — giving rise to emotions\, thoughts\, and behaviors we know are unskillful. But there is an antidote. \n \nIn traditional Buddhist psychology\, metta (loving-kindness) is specifically categorized as an antidote — a direct prescription for neutralizing ill-will\, anger\, and hatred by shifting our underlying mental states\, much the way a physical antidote neutralizes a toxin. Metta is incompatible with anger and fear. It widens our perspective and keeps us from losing sight of our shared humanity. \n \nJoin us for this half-day metta retreat with Konda Mason to reconnect with your heart and with this philosophy of goodwill — one that science\, too\, recognizes as a health benefit. The session will include sitting periods and talks on the Metta Sutta\, how metta relates to the Brahmaviharas\, and how to radiate metta toward different categories of people\, and out into the world. \n \nWe need metta now more than ever\, to counteract a chronic modern stress that can feel relentless. This half-day break is for you\, regardless of your experience with metta practice — you’ll be held in Konda’s deep wisdom and the care of a supportive sangha. \n \nThis session is from 10:30 am – 2:30 pm ET;  the Zoom link is here.  Times may be modified slightly closer to the session; all times in ET \n \n10:30 Welcome\, dharmette and guided sit  \n11:15 Stretch/Break \n11:30 Dharmette and guided Sit \n12:15 Walking/Meal break \n12:45 Dharma talk \n1:15 	  Guided sit  \n2:00   Discussion/Q&A \n2:30   End \n \nMore about Konda \n \nKonda Mason is a social entrepreneur\, eco-spiritual thought leader\, mindfulness teacher\, and justice advocate working at the intersection of social and financial justice and planetary healing. Konda was introduced to Tibetan Buddhism in 1982. Her love for vipassanā began in 1996\, working with Jack Kornfield at the Vallecitos Retreat Center. She has taught at Spirit Rock since 1997\, starting as a yoga teacher. Konda’s Dharma training includes the East Bay Meditation Center Commit to Dharma program\, Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leader and she is a graduate of the 2020 Spirit Rock Teacher Training program. Konda teaches daylongs\, retreats and workshops. \nPlease click the link below to RSVP for this event. \nhttps://mmtcpalumni.org/events/

SUMMARY:Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness Teachers
DESCRIPTION:Facing Trauma in a Changing World \nAn international TSM sangha \n \nLet’s explore how trauma shows up in our communities online and in person and the skillful means that we need as TSM teachers and/or facilitators to be of help in stormy days. \n“Freedom is not given to us by anyone; we have to cultivate it ourselves\,” Thich Nhat Hanh. \n \nThis sangha provides a grounded and safe space to be present with your peers who share one simple yet profound goal: Peace in every Step (á la Thich Nhat  Hanh). Let us reclaim our deep listening and deep seeing into shared humanity. Let us discuss cross cultural sensitivities at the junction of trauma and mindfulness. Let us recenter\, inquire and clarify what resources may be best to offer to our communities.   \n  \nMay this space be a home base for kindness\, curiosity and inspiration amidst the chaos. \n \nWe will meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month @ 11:00 am ET USA\, which is \n\n\n5:00 pm in Warsaw\, Poland \n\n\n6:00 pm in Jerusalem\, Israel/Palestine \n\n\n7:00 pm in Abu Dhabi\, Emirates \n\n\n  \n\n\n11:00 am in Washington DC\, USA \n\n\n4:00 pm in London\, UK \n\n\nPlease use the conversion app for your time zone\, respectively.

Now more than ever we need to be in community and though we can’t be together in person\, please join us live for this valuable community. \n \nMore about Rebecca \n \n \n. \nRebecca Hines lives with deep appreciation for the healing power of awareness available right here in our bodies\, in every moment\, that opens up space for greater freedom\, choice\, presence\, and grace. The heart of her practice is creating continuity of awareness from “on the cushion” to “off the cushion”—a clear path for continual exploration of dancing with life—the dance of work-life balance\, relationships\, health challenges\, aging\, and bringing wise action to the challenges facing the world. \nShe discovered vipassana meditation in 2000 with Tara Brach and started teaching MBSR in 2007. As a lifelong learner\, she has benefited from a range of trainings to support her understanding and practice of these precious teachings including Spirit Rock’s Heavenly Messengers—Awakening Through Illness\, Aging\, and Death program and Year to Live program\, and numerous Nonviolent Communication (NVC) trainings and retreats. She holds a master’s in health science from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health\, a BA from Wellesley College in psychology\, and certification in holistic health counseling. \nPlease click the link below to RSVP for this event. \nhttps://mmtcpalumni.org/events/

Dhammadipa.
