SUMMARY:Ānāpānasati Sutta with Dharmacharya Shantum Seth
DESCRIPTION:For many of us\, focusing on the breath is foundational to our meditation and mindfulness of breathing is a concept we are all familiar with. But do you know the origins of this practice for Buddhists? In the Ānāpānasati Sutta  the Buddha lays out a clear and detailed meditation practice to develop a serene and concentrated mind and insight.  \n \nJoin Dharmacharya Shantum Seth as he brings us back to the roots of mindfulness of breath teaching to explore and deconstruct the 16 steps of conscious breathing which are broken into four tetrads—body\, feelings\, mind\, and mental objects. Whether you have worked with Ānāpānasati  before or this is your first exposure to the sutta\, this session offers an opportunity to study this discourse\, with a skilled guide\, as it was taught over 2\,500 years ago and to discover why it is considered the “direct path” to liberation and awakening. \n \nThis Deepening Dharma Series session is from 11 am – 1 pm ET;  the Zoom link is here \n \nMore about Shantum Seth \n \nShantum Seth is an international meditation teacher\, educator\, and facilitator whose work bridges contemplative traditions with leadership\, education\, and social transformation. Ordained as a Dharmacharya (Dharma Teacher) in 2001 by the Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh\, he has been sharing mindfulness and ethical living globally for over three decades. \n \nA pioneer of mindful pilgrimage\, Shantum has been leading transformative journeys across Buddhist Asia since 1988\, when he organized an early pilgrimage for Thich Nhat Hanh. These journeys invite participants to walk in the footsteps of the Buddha while deepening contemplative practice and weave together meditation\, dialogue\, and direct experience at sacred sites such as Bodh Gaya\, Sarnath\, and Kushinagar. He led the first  alumni pilgrimage in December and will guide another in February 2027.  Shantum is Co-Founder of Ahimsa Trust\,( www.ahimsatrust.org)  which is developing a Plum Village–inspired mindfulness practice centre in the Himalayan foothills. His work spans educators\, corporate leaders\, civil servants\, and social sectors\, focusing on awareness\, resilience\, and compassionate leadership.

SUMMARY:Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness Teachers
DESCRIPTION:Facing Trauma in a Changing World \nAn international TSM sangha \n \nLet’s explore how trauma shows up in our communities online and in person and the skillful means that we need as TSM teachers and/or facilitators to be of help in stormy days. \n“Freedom is not given to us by anyone; we have to cultivate it ourselves\,” Thich Nhat Hanh. \n \nThis sangha provides a grounded and safe space to be present with your peers who share one simple yet profound goal: Peace in every Step (á la Thich Nhat  Hanh). Let us reclaim our deep listening and deep seeing into shared humanity. Let us discuss cross cultural sensitivities at the junction of trauma and mindfulness. Let us recenter\, inquire and clarify what resources may be best to offer to our communities.   \n  \nMay this space be a home base for kindness\, curiosity and inspiration amidst the chaos. \n \nWe will meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month @ 11:00 am ET USA\, which is \n\n\n5:00 pm in Warsaw\, Poland \n\n\n6:00 pm in Jerusalem\, Israel/Palestine \n\n\n7:00 pm in Abu Dhabi\, Emirates \n\n\n  \n\n\n11:00 am in Washington DC\, USA \n\n\n4:00 pm in London\, UK \n\n\nPlease use the conversion app for your time zone\, respectively.

SUMMARY:Footsteps of the Buddha Pilgrimage Information Session
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to offer again a unique opportunity to visit Buddhism’s holy sites with a group of MMTCP alumni as we walk in the Footsteps of the Buddha: A Pilgrimage to the Source of Mindfulness. Moving as a sangha\, we don’t just visit history; we walk in the dharma together in the very places it was born.  \n \nMeet Shantum and the Buddha Path team at this information session and hear more about the trip’s content and logistics.  Please click here for a complete information packet including registration details.  \n \nThis trip is open to all MMTCP alumni; partners\, family members and friends are welcome to join. \n \nThe session is from 9 – 10:30 am ET; the Zoom link is here.

SUMMARY:The Dangers of Peace: Avoidance and Bypassing as Hindrances to Liberation | A Workshop with Kazu Haga
DESCRIPTION:As dharma practitioners and teachers\, part of our path is to support others in walking toward peace. Yet in a world shaped by pervasive violence\, our understanding of what it means to create “peace” can become distorted. How might our assumptions about concepts like peace\, safety\, agreements\, healing\, and accountability unintentionally create fragile or reactive spaces that replicate harm? And how can our grounding in the dharma help us cultivate containers that are not only genuinely safe\, but also resilient enough to hold challenges\, invite growth\, and move us toward the liberation of all beings?  And at a time when we are polarized and/or paralyzed by conflict\, this session will offer practical tools and strategies you can bring into your relationships and teaching.    \n \nThis workshop is from 12 – 3 pm ET; the Zoom link is here.  \n \nThis session is presented in collaboration with the Mindfulness and Nonviolent Communication Sangha; please visit the Sangha page for more information. \n \nMore About Kazu Haga \nKazu Haga is a trainer and practitioner of nonviolence and restorative justice\, a core member of the Fierce Vulnerability Network\, a founding core member of the Ahimsa Collective\, a Jam facilitator and author of Healing Resistance: A Radically Different Response to Harm and Fierce Vulnerability: Healing from Trauma\, Emerging through \nCollapse. His work weaves together spiritual practice\, trauma healing and nonviolent action to advance social change and move towards collective liberation.   \nHe has over 25 years of experience in nonviolence and social change work. He is a resident of the Canticle Farm community on Lisjan Ohlone land\, Oakland\, CA\, where \nhe lives with his family. You can find out more about his work at www.kazuhaga.com.

SUMMARY:From Stillness to Action: Navigating Our Global Crisis with Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi
DESCRIPTION:Each day we’re assailed by the chaos and confusion of a world that seems to be spinning out of control. The cruelty\, violence\, obscene greed and glaring injustices—rolling out incessantly like ocean waves—pound on our hearts and tear at our minds\, demanding a wise response. Our meditation practice offers us calm and clarity\, but we also need to act\, to use the quiet power generated by our practice as a platform for transforming our society\, our nation\, and our world. Even when the future seems bleak\, the soft voice of compassion refuses to let us give up\, but calls on us to engage with the wider circles that encompass our lives\, acting boldly to address destructive systems responsible for collective suffering.  \n \nIn this session\, world-renowned scholar-monk Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi will explore with us some of the critical issues impacting our shared destiny today. After highlighting the dangers that hang over us\, he will suggest guidelines to help us channel our grief and anger into concerted action that can help us realize the humane future we envision. Despite our doubts and trepidation\, we must always remember that such a future IS indeed possible\, and that this future depends on us. \n \nThe session is from 12:30 – 2 pm ET;  the Zoom link is here

SUMMARY:Wise Engagement and Relationship with AI | Workshop with Lars Sandved-Smith
DESCRIPTION:Mindfulness is heart-centered practice\, rooted in human presence\, lineage\, and safety.  Artificial Intelligence (AI) presents both challenges and opportunities for more mindfulness in our world but there are also technical\, ethical\, and spiritual implications.  \n  \nJoin us for this informative session intended as an orientation for mindfulness practitioners and teachers of  today’s AI landscape. We’ll cover many relevant\, and timely\, topics in this workshop\, including:  \n\n\nWhy AI matters as a “technology of mind” shaping attention\, intention\, and view \n\n\nWhat the current AI systems actually are and where they’re heading \n\n\nBuddhist frames for understanding AI — e.g. as a karmic amplifier\, as a shift from attention economy to attachment economy\,  \n\n\nPractical paths for wise engagement\, from conscientious objection to intentional use to active stewardship \n\n\nWe are at an evolutionary turning point where we are participating with AI\, whether we want to or not\, and it is no longer just a tool we use.  Even these topics will just scratch the surface so it is important for us to become a little more AI “literate”.  \n \nThis workshop is from 12 – 3 pm ET;  the Zoom link is here \n \nMore about Lars \nLars Sandved-Smith is a computational neuroscientist and meditation teacher with a background in technology and M&A. He is excited about the potential for good in emerging technologies and advances in our scientific understanding of meditation. Lars is currently a doctoral researcher at the Monash Centre for Consciousness and Contemplative Studies developing computational models of meditation using the active inference framework in collaboration with Karl Friston’s lab at UCL. He also founded Neurons of Potential\, teaching meditation to businesses and leadership teams through the lens of the latest scientific understandings of practice. \n \nIn 2014 he received a master’s in Physics and Philosophy from the University of Manchester where his interest in understanding the mind’s ability to interpret reality began. This interest continued to develop during his career in technology consulting at KPMG and Deloitte and eventually led Lars to meditation\, yoga and neuroscience. An MMTCP alumni\, Lars’ goal is to contribute to the growing scientific understanding of mental well-being and explore modern approaches to contemplative practice.
